Do you have to travel to an educational institution to take the Anniskelupassi test, or can it be done remotely? Finland's Anniskelupassi (often called the Alcohol Passport or alcohol serving license) is a certificate proving one's knowledge of the Finnish Alcohol Act and serving regulations. You can study for it anywhere using PassiPRO's course, but the exam itself still has to be sat under supervision. The good news is a number of institutions let you do that over video call.
Yes, several institutions offer a remote test
Not every provider does; some, like Stadin AO in Helsinki, currently test in person only. But a handful run the exam over Microsoft Teams with a live invigilator, so you can take it from home anywhere in Finland. Remote sittings typically cost more than showing up in person, and usually require you to book a specific time slot rather than walk in.

| Institution | Remote price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ava-akatemia | ~€110 | In person in Helsinki (Herttoniemi) from ~€55-57; retake ~€45-47. Finnish, Swedish, or English. |
| Taitotalo | ~€110 | Individually scheduled, anywhere in Finland, via Teams. |
| KasvuEsedu | ~€120 | Includes one free retake if you fail on the first attempt. Evening and weekend slots available. |
What a remote sitting requires
Across providers, expect roughly the same setup: a computer, phone, or tablet with a working camera and microphone that stay on for the entire test, a quiet room with no one else present, the Teams app installed, and a valid photo ID (driver's licence or passport) to verify your identity before you start.
Remote or in person, the material tested is identical: LVV's guideline, chapters 1-3. Which format makes sense usually comes down to travel time versus price, not difficulty.
