Can You Take the Hygieniapassi Test Online?

No. You cannot take the hygiene passport test online. It is a written test, taken in person, in a supervised room.

What the rules say

The test is done on paper on Ruokavirasto's test form in a supervised test room. A hygiene passport test cannot be organised electronically, remotely, in premises within home peace or abroad.

That rules out webcam-monitored tests, tests on your own computer, tests in your own home and tests taken outside Finland.

Why "online hygiene passport" offers are a problem

You may see websites that offer a hygiene passport course or exam online. The hygiene passport is issued only by a tester approved by Ruokavirasto, and the test must be passed in person. A certificate from an online course does not replace the test. A hygiene passport cannot be obtained on the basis of training either.

Online material is useful for preparing. It cannot be the test.

What test day looks like

• You take the test on paper, in a room with a supervisor.
• You bring an original, valid photo ID. The tester checks your identity from it.
• You write your full name and Finnish personal ID number (or date of birth if you have none) on the form.
• You mark answers with a ballpoint pen that is not black, or a similar tool. Pencil is not allowed.
• You have 45 minutes for 40 true/false statements and may not leave earlier than 20 minutes after the start.
• Using a phone counts as cheating. If a test taker cheats or tries to, the test is not assessed and is failed.

You need 34 correct answers to pass.

Booking
